No personality, nothing, just sort of there. But I am finding out, living, sort of, with two calicos (not mine, my son's) that they are people too. Just like dogs. Although, of course, dogs are a step above and probably always will be, I mean, they were created to be, right? :-) Anyway, one of these cats is attentive to my every move. Presently. (I am staying with my son at the moment and have been for the past 525,600 minutes and beyond--an inside joke thingy.) So as soon as I wake up, she walks to the kitchen where she knows I will be to put on coffee and then stumble to the bathroom. As soon as I finish the coffee, she runs to the bathroom, ahead of me. And heaven forbid if I go into the bathroom without her (just like a two year, remember those days???? "mommy, can i come in?") So...cats. I used to think that cats were just, well...cats. What did the dyslexic atheist say? (Stay with me here.) There really is a dog! Get it? I read that years ago in Reader's Digest and as most things leave my brain, and are but blips on my eternal confusion, that tidbit stayed. :-) Anyway, thinking of dogs, that, for some reason, came to my mind this morning. It is morning, right? I love dogs. They are the best people I know, actually. Yesterday I met my friend's dog for the first time. He was rescued, she said. He's gorgeous. A mix of black lab and something else, what's that matter. He's a sweety and I thought of the many, many dogs who are out there and needing a home. Hmm...so as soon as I get back on my own two feet, I shall be adopting one. I wish I could adopt them all, actually. But I cannot. Then again....hmm. So, if you can, and are able, adopt a dog. They are some of the best people you'll ever meet. I kid you not. :-) Besides, I have read somewhere that those who have pets (dogs, especially, paraphrasing there), live longer and healthier. No, it's true.
